Sparkle Pools website design and development

The Design Challenge

After our initial meeting, it was obvious that Sparkle Pools & Spas was not just the average pool company. They have a can-do attitude, a wealth of knowledge and experience and best of all no pushy sales people. Instead of selling pre-designed pool packages, they recognise that a swimming pool needs to suit each individual’s lifestyle, so they encouraged customers to design their dream pool by searching through magazines for inspiration, then bringing in a wishlist for Sparkle’s experts so they can work their magic.

The new website provides a fantastic opportunity to express these unique points of difference to their potential customers. It also offers Sparkle the opportunity to show off their expertise and their wide variety of completed swimming pools and spas.

In summary the main unqiue selling points include:

  • Sparkle encourage customers to dream up their ideal pool by looking through magazines, then discussing them with staff to see how their dream pool can be made a reality
  • Local, independently owned and operated – as opposed to the competing franchises
  • No sales people, just knowledgeable and experienced staff

The Design Solution

During the initial planning stage, I wanted to get inside the heads of Sparkle Pools (from the business perspective) and the consumer. This helped me to identify two primary goals:

  • Encourage potential clients to make the initial contact – giving the Sparkle staff the opportunity to work their magic
  • For those customers not ready to buy, the website should at least inspire them to starting thinking about and visualising their dream pool.

Once the primary goals were identified, it was important to think about what may stop the potential client from making that first point of contact?

  • The fear of the unknown – One factor that may prevent someone from making an inquiry about a new pool, is the fear of what happens next. To prevent this issue, the website content has been carefully structured to help eliminate this issue. Knowledge is the key.

To celebrate one hundred and fifty years of district nursing in the UK the Queen’s Nursing Institute decided to promote the anniversay with a website and associated marketing detailing the rich and varied past of district nursing.

reduce fear of the ‘unknown’

An important feature of the website is the provision of easy to follow ‘what happens next’ information. After careful consideration during the planning stages,
